Adventure for Front-line Workers “Adventure for Front Line Workers” is a two-day workshop designed for youth workers, recreation professionals, educators, social service providers and other community leaders interested in enriching their services. The workshop is a hands-on opportunity to learn the basics of experience-based programming and ideas for incorporating adventure into community programs. Adventure/Experience-based programming is founded on the beliefs that people learn best by doing, feeling and experiencing, and that if placed in a challenging and supportive atmosphere; people can reach beyond their perceived limits. These programs provide opportunities for participants to have fun while developing essential life skills. Participants work together to solve structured problems that require collaboration, communication and an understanding of individual strengths and weaknesses. Co-operative games, trust activities and initiatives help people develop the socialization, self-esteem and motivation needed to succeed in life. The "Adventure for Front Line Workers" workshop includes: · An introduction to the philosophy and theory of adventure; · A wide range of games, activities and initiatives appropriate for a variety of clients; · Information on activity selection, sequencing, as well as briefing and debriefing techniques; · Ideas for incorporating adventure into community programs;
